கடந்த வாரங்கள் மற்றும் மாதங்களில், தங்கும் விடுதிகளுக்கு சென்றபோது வெளிநாட்டு ஊழியர்களுடன் தொடர்பு கொள்ள வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்ததாக மனிதவளத் துணை அமைச்சர் ஸாக்கி முகமது தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
இந்த இக்கட்டான காலகட்டத்தில் சிங்கப்பூர் மற்றும் சிங்கப்பூரர்கள் தங்களுக்கு என்ன செய்தார்கள் என்பதற்கு பலர் நன்றியுள்ளவர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள் என்று குறிப்பிட்ட அவர், இதில் மூன்று ஊழியர்களைப் பற்றி மனம் மகிழ்ந்து குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.

முதலாவதாக , 34 வயதான வேலுச்சாமி முனியப்பராஜ் (ராஜ்) ஒரு 10 ஆண்டுக்கு முன்னர் சிங்கப்பூர் வந்தார். தற்போது ஒரு வெளிநாட்டு ஊழியர் தங்கும்விடுதியில் செயல்பாட்டு நிர்வாகியாகப் பணியாற்றி வருகிறார். விடுதியில் வசிக்கும் ஊழியர்களை நண்பர்களாகப் பார்க்கும் அவர், இக்கட்டான சூழலைக் கடந்து வர மற்றவர்களுக்கு ஆறுதல் கூறியும் வருகிறார்.
விரைவில் அவரின் மனைவி இரட்டையரை ஈன்றெடுக்கவுள்ளார், இந்தியா திரும்பும் வாய்ப்பை உதறிவிட்டு, இந்த நோய்த்தொற்றுக்கு எதிரான போராட்டத்தில் தமது பங்கை செய்து வருகிறார்.
அடுத்ததாக , 24 வயதான ராஜேந்திர ராஜா (ராஜா) கடந்த நான்கு ஆண்டுகளாக சிங்கப்பூரில் பணியாற்றி வருகிறார். அவர் வசிக்கும் தங்கும் விடுதியில் உணவு, அத்தியாவசியப் பொருள்கள் ஆகியவற்றின் விநியோகத்தில் உதவி வருகிறார்.
தங்கும் விடுதியில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள மருத்துவ முகாம்களிலும் உதவி செய்து வருகிறார். அதில் ஆபத்து இருப்பதை அறிந்தபோதிலும் சிங்கப்பூருக்காகத் தமது பங்கை ஆற்றி வருவதாக அவர் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.
Over the past weeks and months, I’ve had the chance to interact with many of our migrant workers during my visits to the dormitories. Many are grateful for what Singapore and Singaporeans have done for them during this period. I was heartened to learn of three workers who have gone the extra mile to show their appreciation. #1 Veluchamy Muniapparaj (Raj), 34, came to Singapore close to a decade ago. Currently employed as an operations executive at a dormitory, he takes it upon himself to engage with the residents – whom he sees as his friends – and help to reassure them during this period. With his wife due to deliver twins soon, Raj, a first-time father to be, even gave up the opportunity to return to India to be by her side to help in the fight against Covid-19. #2 Rajendran Raja (Raja), 24, has been working in Singapore for the last four years. He willingly volunteered to help out in the distribution of food and essentials at his dormitory, and later as an assistant at the medical post. Raja is sometimes mistaken as a FAST team member as he often dons the full PPE in his work. While the work exposes him to risks, Raja shared that he is simply doing his part for Singapore. #3 Mundla Anil Kumar (Anil), 31, has spent the last 12 years in Singapore. Having witnessed first-hand the care being given to migrant workers such as himself, he wanted to give back. He offered to donate $400, a month’s allowance that he received from volunteering at his dormitory, to the Singapore Government. A kind Samaritan got wind of this and made a donation of $8,000 dollars to the Migrant Workers’ Fund managed by the Migrant Workers’ Centre in his name. இறுதியாக, 31 வயது முண்ட்லா அனில் குமார் கடந்த 12 ஆண்டுகளாக சிங்கப்பூரில் வசித்து வருகிறார். தமக்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட பராமரிப்பை, தாமும் முன்வந்து சமூகத்திற்குத் திருப்பி தர வேண்டும் என்று எண்ணினார்.
அவர் தனது தங்கும் விடுதியில் தன்னார்வத் தொண்டு செய்வதிலிருந்து பெற்ற ஒரு மாத உதவித்தொகையான $400ஐ சிங்கப்பூர் அரசாங்கத்திற்கு நன்கொடையாக வழங்கியுள்ளார்.
அதுபற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்ட நல்லுள்ளங்கொண்ட ஒருவர் வெளிநாட்டு ஊழியர்கள் நிதிக்கு $8,000 நன்கொடையாக அளித்துள்ளார்.
“இது போன்ற மனதை நெகிழவைக்கும் சம்பவங்கள், நாம் வலுவாகவும் ஒன்றாகவும் மீண்டெழுவோம் என்ற நம்பிக்கையைத் தருகிறது” என்று திரு. ஸாக்கி முகமது குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார்.
